[BIFF 2025] Features explore Korean identity, coming-of-age, family horror

PLUS: Busan vibes (as heard from the locals)

I caught some docs, thrillers, and a horror at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), including some of KOCCA and Forum BIFF’s programming, a talk with ”KPOP Demon Hunters” director Maggie Kang, and the Asian Contents and Film Market (ACFM).

Though initially I intended to send my findings last month, there were quite a few insights on industry musings that kept popping up subsequently that I’ll likely be posting in a separate issue.

Anyway, I share my take on some of the feature films that stood out, plus: a snapshot of the vibe in Busan (from non-industry locals).
